Biography

2021-22: Earned Academic All-PacWest honors… Appeared in 31 games in his senior season…Shot 34% from the field (45-for-131) and was 39-for-121 from beyond-the-arc… Tallied 77 total rebounds… In a victory over LIFE Pacific, he tallied a season-high 14 points, with five field goals made and knocked down four three pointers.  

2020-21 (COVID-abbreviated season): Earned Academic All-PacWest honors...Played and started in 11 games for the Cougars, averaging 25.1 minutes per contest...Averaged 7.6 points per game on 44% (29-for-66) shooting from the field...Made a team-high 26 shots three-pointers (43%) and posted a total of 31 rebounds...In the Cougars home victory against Biola, he made five out of seven field goal attempts (71%), while sinking a season-high 15 points. 

2019-20 (Redshirt Sophomore): Played in 29 games, averaging 20.8 minutes per contest... Averaged eight points per game on 43% (80-for-186) shooting from the field... Knocked down 40% of his shots from beyond-the-arc (59-for-148)... Hit a game-winning three-pointer with 1.7 on the clock against Cal State San Marcos... Scored a career-high 27 points in a victory over Cal Poly Pomona... Academic All-PacWest selection.

2018-19 (Redshirt Freshman): Appeared in 27 games for the Cougars … scored a season-high of 12 points against Fresno Pacific (4-8 shooting 50% from the 3-point line) … Recorded a total of 93 points, 34 rebounds, 26 assists, 10 steals, and 6 blocks on the season. 

2017-18 (Freshman): Redshirted... Practiced with the team and attended classes at Azusa Pacific University.

High School: Attended Clovis North High School… played three varsity seasons for coach Tony Amundson… served as team captain for his senior season… led team to 18-11 records in his senior year… averaged 18 points per game… named All-Conference… set school record for points in a game with 41… set school record for most three-pointers in a game with 11… school leader in three-pointers made in a career with 146.

Personal: Born on August 17, 1999 in Fresno, California… son of Kal and Nancy Avera… has three brothers, Will, Trey and Michael… majoring in economics… enjoys listening to music in his free time.
