THIS YEAR: Fifth-year senior Wade Tapsfield returns to the Cougar defensive backfield as a valued back-up … Has quality experience and understands the Cougar system. 

2002: Came on strong as his 2002 junior campaign unfolded, appearing in 5 games, including the final 3 in a row … Collected 12 tackles (6 solo) … Best showing came at Chapman where he registered 4 tackles (3 solo), including 1 for a 4-yard loss. 

2001: Appeared in 3 games, starting the season-finale at Chapman, where he tallied a career-high 10 tackles (3 solo) … Also played against Whittier and Southern Oregon. 

2000: Made limited appearances as a 2000 freshman. 

1999: Redshirted his first season at Azusa Pacific. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 3-sport standout at Seward High in Alaska … Earned all-state honorable mention as a defensive back during his senior season of football … Also collected All-Great Land Conference recognition … Played running back as well … Earned 3 varsity letters in baseball (outfield), and 2 in basketball … Also ran 1 season of track & field (sprints). 

PERSONAL: Born July 5, 1981, in Fontana, Calif., to Marvin (teacher) and Nancy (retired teacher) Tapsfield … His twin, Jesse, is a member of the Cougar football team … Has a younger sister (Jody) … His dad, who coached Wade in baseball at Seward High, played soccer at nearby California Baptist College during the early 1970s … Majoring in applied health … Wants to go into physical therapy.
