Biography

THIS YEAR: Senior Troy McPeak figures to fill one of 4 vacant starting slots in the Cougar secondary after playing as a key reserve in 2003 … Good athlete with better than average speed … Has good pass coverage skills but can play the run quite nicely as well.

2003: Transferred to Azusa Pacific late in the summer of 2003 and quickly earned a key role coming off the bench … Appeared in all 10 games, tallying 29 tackles (17 solo), including one for loss … Best game came in a 31-10 Cougar victory over Cal Lutheran in which he registered a season-high 7 tackles to go along with 1 forced fumble and a pass deflection … His only interception of the season came at the end of the victory over Rocky Mountain, a game in which he also had 6 tackles.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: As a 2002 freshman, started 10 games at Riverside (Calif.) City College where he was fifth on the team with 52 tackles (31 solo) … Had 5 pass deflections.

COLORADO STATE: Originally signed with Colorado State out of high school where he spent 2 seasons … Redshirted his 1999 freshman season and did not get into any games during the 2000 campaign.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football for coach Ron Giueringer at Valley View High … As a 1998 senior named all-area and All-Sunbelt Conference first team and team MVP when he set a school record for most tackles (50) in a season by a safety … Also started as a running back … During his 1997 junior campaign named defensive MVP for the 7-3 Eagles.

PERSONAL: Born Jan. 8, 1981, in Riverside, Calif., to Charles and Joanna McPeak … Has 1 sister (Teresa) … His uncle, Jim Smith, played football at the University of San Diego … Majoring in psychology.
