THIS YEAR: Another in a long line of newcomers who should have an impact, Tom Coffin returns to football at full strength after sitting out last season ... Should vie for a starting roll, or at the very least fill a valuable reserve role ... Very strong and physical player.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Attended Palomar College for 3 years but played just 1 season of football ... Redshirted the 1999 campaign and missed all of last season with a shoulder injury ... As a 2000 redshirt freshman, started along the offensive front for the 8-3 Coyotes ... Best effort may have come against Riverside City when he held current Cougar Nick Tavaglione sackless, the only game that season Tavaglione did not register a sack that season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-year starter for head coach Tim Smith at La Costa Canyon High ... As a 1998 senior earned All-Avocado League recognition and was named the team's lineman of the year ... Selected to the San Diego County north all-star team ... Led the 7-4 Mavericks to the CIF quarterfinals.
