THIS YEAR: An all-state pick in high school, redshirt freshman Steven Holte is a terrific linebacker with great skills … Rated a good athlete with a promising future.

2001: Attended classes at Azusa Pacific and practiced with the team but did not play in any games.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was an All-Iowa second team honoree at Valley High in West Des Moines, Iowa, during his senior campaign after tallying 114 tackles (56 solo) that were complimented by 1 interception (returned for a TD) and a fumble recovery … Led the Tigers to 3 state playoff appearances, including 2 semifinal berths, and a combined 31-4 record … Earned all-state honorable mention as a 1999 junior after leading Valley to a 12-1 record and the state 4A semifinals … Twice named All-Central Iowa Metro League first team … Recorded 224 tackles in his 3-year prep career … Also lettered in soccer and track (shot).
