Biography

THIS YEAR: A returning role player, senior receiver Shawn Zook looks to expand his responsibilities . . . Will push to be a key figure in the Cougars' spread offense . . . A sound and smart player . . . May see time as a returner on special teams.

1997: Appeared in 7 games, primarily on special teams . . . Was deep in a log jam at wide receiver and saw limited action in the Cougars' offensive unit . . . Caught 1 pass for an 11-yard gain vs. Whittier . . . Also returned 5 punts for 25 yards, including 3 for 14 yards late in the season vs. Central Washington.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 seasons at Sierra Community College in Rocklin, Calif. . . . As a 1996 sophomore led the Wolverines with 41 receptions for 441 yards (10.8 avg.) . . . Earned All-Bay Valley Conference recognition . . . Was also the Wolverines' top receiver in 1995.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned 2 varsity letters in football at Mira Loma High in Sacramento, Calif., playing for Terry Stark . . . Was a corner back and wide receiver and started both ways as a as a 1992 senior.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 14, 1975, in Seattle, Wash. . . . Is 1 of 3 Zook children . . . Majoring in applied heath and may want to pursue a career in physical therapy . . . Also interested in attending seminary after graduation.
