2015 (redshirt): Spent the year practicing with the team while attending classes.

High School: Was a three-sport athlete at Cesar Chavez High School in Stockton, Calif. competing in football, wrestling, and track & field... Lettered in wrestling all four years under head coach George Leon and was a team captain for three of those years... In football, played varsity for three years as a wide receiver and corner back for head coach John Ward... As a junior and senior, was a first team all-league selection at defensive back... As a senior, led the team to a 7-3 overall record after having a combined record of 7-23 in the previous three seasons.

Personal: Born on Feb. 1, 1997 in Stockton, Calif. ... Parents are Sergio and Isabel Fernandez... Sergio Sr. is an inside salesman and Isabel is a banker... Sisters are Vanessa and Valerie... Is majoring in business management and wants to own a sports equipment business after his time at Azusa Pacific.
