Biography

THIS YEAR: One of only 7 Cougars ever to throw for over 3,000 yards, senior Sean Davis is a returning 2-year starter (only the second returning starting quarterback in the Cougar system over the past 16 years) … Knows and understands the Cougar system quite well … A quiet but highly respected leader … Enters the season sixth on the Cougars' all-time passing chart with 3,186 yards and if healthy could end his career as the all-time No. 2 passer.

2004: Put together his best season ever, starting all 13 games he played … Threw for 1,806 yards (eighth best season in program history) and 12 TDs while completing 56% of his passes … Best game came in the Cougars' a 30-14 victory to snap NCAA Division III power Trinity's 43-game regular-season home winning streak, throwing for career-highs of 260 yards and 3 TDs … Also threw for 2 TDs and 126 yards (10-for-13) in just 1 half of play vs. Crown … Completed a career-high 18 passes (33 attempts, 152 yards, 1 TD) in the Cougars' first-ever victory at Southern Oregon … Suffered an injury in the opening series vs. Western New Mexico and missed the rest of the game and the following week's game at Eastern Oregon … Returned to action to lead the Cougars to 5 straight victories, including 2 in the NAIA playoffs … Put together a 7-game span in which he threw just 1 interception (139 pass attempts) … Runs well with the ball as evidenced by more than 200 rushing yards (without 17 sacks) on 58 carries.

2003: Started all 10 games as a 2003 sophomore, completing 47% of his passes for 1,380 yards and 9 TDs … Came on strong over the final month of the season, completing 47-of-88 (.534) passes for 616 yards and 3 TDs in the final 4 games … Best showing came in a 32-7 victory over Chapman in which he accounted for 255 yards in total offense with season bests of 218 passing yards and 37 rushing yards … Was uncannily sharp in the first halves of games, completing 56-of-103 (.544) first half passes on the season.

2002: Suffered an early-season concussion that put him behind in the battle to be the No. 2 QB and yet still worked his way back to make his first-ever collegiate appearance by game No. 4, late in the victory at Cal Lutheran … Came off the bench in the third quarter in the victory at Chapman to complete 3-of-4 passes for 29 yards, including his first-ever attempt, a 10-yard strike to Ricky Burgan … Also made a brief appearance against Rocky Mountain.

2001: Redshirted the 2001 season at Azusa Pacific.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football at La Cueva High in Albuquerque, N.M., winning district honors 3 times as a defensive back and twice as a quarterback … As a senior earned all-city first team recognition as a defensive back and honorable mention as a quarterback … Threw for 2,461 yards over his final 2 seasons with 12 TDs and 6 picks while leading the Bears to an 18-5 record … Also lettered 2 seasons in baseball (pitcher/first baseman).

PERSONAL: Born June 22, 1983, in Albuquerque, N.M. … Parents are Craig (pastor) and Becky (orthodontic assistant) Davis … Has 1 brother, Tyler, a true freshman quarterback on the Cougar team … Majoring in youth ministry … Active in Young Life.
