Biography

THIS YEAR:  The anchor of what should be an outstanding Cougar offensive line, senior Sakalaia Hungalu is a two-year starter who has played in 29 games the past three seasons, starting the past 22 in a row at center … Physical and durable player. 

2017 (junior):  Started all 11 games at center for the 7-4 Cougars, spearheading an offensive line that helped produce a rushing game that averaged 181.7 yards a game while producing 30 rushing TDs and allowing just 23 quarterback sacks.

2016 (sophomore): Started all 12 games, including Azusa Pacific’s first-ever NCAA playoff game (at Sioux Falls) … Was a key figure in an offensive line that yielded just 22 quarterback sacks on the season … Made his first collegiate start in the Cougars’ 28-10 season-opening victory at home over West Texas A&M.

2015 (freshman):  Came off the bench seven of the Cougars ten games.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played three seasons of varsity football for head coach Joseph Cho at McKinley High in Honolulu, Hawaii … Also wrestled for one year. 

PERSONAL:  Born Aug. 2, 1996, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Sakalaio and Ana Hungalu … Has one brother (Josiah) and a sister (Valerie).
