THIS YEAR: Sophomore defensive back Roman Shelter returns to football with his first season at Azusa Pacific after taking a 3-year layoff from the game … A 5-foot-7, 175-pound defensive back, joins the Cougars after competing at cornerback in high school back in 2022.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Ayala High School in Chino Hills, Calif., in 2023 … Played varsity football for Head Coach Arthur Gracia … Competed at cornerback for the Bulldogs … As a 2022 senior, helped the Bulldogs go 8-3 and advanced to the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 3 playoffs … Tallied 21 tackles, including 3 for loss, to go along with 1 pass breakup while allowing just 4 catches for opponents …
