THIS YEAR: Junior Robert Taylor III returns to football after a 6-year layoff initiated by COVID … Needs to work off the rust of the layoff but has terrific promise … Will vie for a starting berth while giving the Cougars quality depth at receiver. 

COLLEGE OF THE DESERT: Played wide receiver under head coach Jack Steptoe... appeared in 10 games during the 2019 freshman season ... Caught 14 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown, averaging 12.8 yards per reception with a long of 30 yards ... added one solo tackle... Appeared in 9 games as 2020 sophomore, recording 460 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns... averaged 51.1 receiving yards per game and 16.4 yards a grab.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Desert Hot Springs (Calif.) High in 2019 ... Played 3 varsity seasons under Head Coach Errol Wilson ... Competed at wide receiver and free safety ... Caught 31 passes for 589 yards and five touchdowns over his final 2 seasons ... During his 2018 senior campaign, averaged 18.7 yards on 16 catches for 299 yards, including a long of 77 yards for a TD in a loss to Desert Mirage High ... Totaled 48 tackles, including 37 solo stops, to go along with 4 interceptions for 58 return yards, 9 pass breakups, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble as a senior ...
