THIS YEAR: A smart, agile and disciplined blocker, veteran Rene Arguelles is the anchor of a rebuilt yet talented offensive line … Is a 2-year starter and the only returning starter to the offensive front … Rated strong in both run and pass blocking … Should be a key in the Cougars controlling the line of scrimmage. 

2003: Appeared in all 10 games at right guard and was instrumental in Azusa Pacific establishing a ground game that averaged 176 yards a contest … As a result, was named NAIA All-American honorable mention. 

2002: Started all 9 games at guard during his 2002 sophomore season … Was a key reason the Cougars averaged 4.7 yards a rush as a team. 

FRESNO STATE: Signed with NCAA Division I power Fresno State out of high school … Redshirted the Bulldogs' 1999 Western Athletic Conference championship season … Sat out the next 2 seasons. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Was an All-CIF pick and a 2-time San Gabriel Valley Tribune All-Valley honoree at Charter Oak High in Glendora, Calif., playing for coach Lou Farrar … Honored on the Tribune's All-Decade team as well … Also earned all-state recognition from Cal High Magazine and was an All-CIF first team pick … Was a 2-time All-Miramonte League selection … As a 1998 senior was a key member of Charter Oak's CIF championship team that went 10-2-1 … Was also a member of the Charger track & field program and was named the team's MVP as a thrower during his junior season … Named scholar-athlete for 3 of his 4 years in high school.
