Biography

THIS YEAR: Expected to be one of the stars of the Cougar defense, senior Peder Moore is a 25-game veteran of a Cougar system that he understands quite well … Is extremely strong and quick … Holds the program record for the clean lift at 400 pounds … Plays the run and pass very well and is extremely smart … Could push for postseason honors. 

2003: Started all 10 games as a 2003 junior, and was fourth on the team with 43 tackles, including 10 for loss and 1.5 sacks … Best showing came in a come-from-behind victory over Cal Lutheran in which he recorded a season-high 9 tackles which included 2 for loss … Had a hand in 2 sacks in the win at Gustavus Adolphus … In the season-opening victory at San Diego, had 4 tackles, 2 pass deflections and his first-ever interception which led to a touchdown. 

2002: Started all 9 games at defensive end … Was second on the team in tackles with 58, which included 11 behind the line of scrimmage and 2.5 sacks … Had a career-high 11 tackles in the win over Humboldt State … Tallied 10 tackles (5 solo), including a sack, in the triple overtime victory at Pacific Lutheran … Finished the season with 9 tackles, including 2 for loss, in the win over Gustavus Adolphus. 

2001: Appeared in 6 games as a freshman, starting the first 2 before injuries limited his availability … Tallied a season-high 7 tackles twice, first in the season-opener against San Diego and then in a victory over Menlo. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 seasons of varsity football at Anacortes (Wash.) High, serving as team captain during his 1997 senior season when he was named All-Northwest League as a defensive end and offensive guard … Was also all-league as a junior … Also lettered in soccer and was a member of the varsity wrestling team all 4 years, winning the league title at 215 pounds and qualifying for the state tournament as a senior. 

PERSONAL: Born May 17, 1980, in Anacortes, Wash., to Dave and Mirth Moore … Has 1 brother (Eric) and 4 sisters (Kristen, Lara, Johanna, Jorgina) … Majoring in physical education and in fact taught P.E. at Maranatha High in Pasadena last year … Wants to coach and teach … Enjoys cooking, reading and weightlifting … Placed second at the 2004 Cal State Games weightlifting competition (heavyweight division) … Ran the 2004 Los Angeles Marathon with teammate Jacob Fisher
