THIS YEAR: An outstanding athlete who is likely to press for time on the field even as a rookie, freshman Oliver Boateng begins his first season at Azusa Pacific after a standout 4-year varsity career at Valley Christian High in Cerritos, Calif. … Joins the Cougar program after earning CIF Southern Section offensive player of the year honors and helping lead Valley Christian to a CIF championship.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 seasons of varsity football at Valley Christian High in Cerritos, Calif.,  for Head Coach Nick Walker as a 2022 freshman and Head Coach Brendan Chambers from 2023-25 … Was a 2-way standout at wide receiver and defensive back for the Defenders and served as team captain as a senior … Helped Valley Christian go 11-4 as a 2026 senior, win the CIF Southern Section Division 9 championship and reach the CIF State Division 5-AA Southern California Regional Bowl … Named CIF Southern Section Division 9 Offensive Player of the Year and team Offensive Player of the Year … Also earned Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team second-team  recognition as a WR/DB, Los Cerritos Community News All-Area first- team at both wide receiver and defensive back, and All-Ironwood League first team, while being nominated for CalHiSports all-state … Named to the 605 All-Star Team … As a senior, caught 68 passes for 1,072 yards and 15 touchdowns while adding 2 rushing touchdowns … Led the league in receiving yards and touchdowns … Has 7 receptions for a career-high 164 yards and 3 TDs in a 26-9 CIF opening-round playoff victory over Chino … Tallied a career-high 8 grabs against Aquinas … Defensively, totaled 46 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 7 pass breakups and 2 blocked field goals as a senior … Over his varsity career, caught 73 passes for 1,133 yards and 15 touchdowns while totaling 1,232 all-purpose yards … As a junior, earned the team Coaches Award and first-team Los Cerritos Community News All-Area honors at defensive back after recording 45 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 1 interception … Also competed 3 seasons in track & field, earning Olympic League MVP honors as a sophomore while winning Olympic League titles in the high jump and triple jump and helping Valley Christian capture multiple team league championships ... Recorded personal bests of 11.91 in the 100-meters and 5' 8" in the high jump.
