Biography

THIS YEAR: One of the most explosive receivers in the NAIA, senior speedster Nate Farris is an outstanding long threat who has a nose for the end zone … Is the lightening of a deep set of Cougar receivers … Will press the program's season-record for highest average for yards per catch. 

2002: Seemingly came out of nowhere to fashion one of the finest seasons ever by a Cougar receiver … Was third on the team with 24 receptions but led the squad with 9 TDs (fifth-best single-season mark in program history) and 613 yards, averaging a whopping 25.5 yards per catch (narrowly missed minimum receptions for school record) … Turned every third catch into a TD … 7 of his 9 TD receptions covered more than 40 yards in length … Set the tone for his season in the opener vs. San Diego, setting career-bests for receptions (6), yards (137), touchdowns (2) and long play (78 yards) … Had a trio of 100-yard receiving games, including 110-yard effort on just 2 catches vs. Rocky Mountain … Had a 62-yard reception vs. Pacific Lutheran to set a up game-tying TD with less than 3 minutes remaining to force OT. 

2001: Returned to football after a 1-year layoff … Appeared in 6 games, all in reserve, in his first season at Azusa Pacific … Caught just 1 ball, a 23-yarder early in the third quarter vs. Southern Oregon … Also filled roles on special teams. 

TRACK & FIELD: Is a 3-time All-American in track & field … Was a member of Azusa Pacific's 2002 NAIA Outdoor and 2003 NAIA Indoor Championship teams … Is the reigning NAIA champion in the indoor 600 meters (1:18.76) and anchored Azusa Pacific's NAIA champion outdoor 4x400 relay (3:12.49) … Was a 2-time Golden State Athletic Conference 400-meter champion … Has career bests of 21.58 (200 meters) and 47.87 (400 meters). 

LONG BEACH CITY: Played his 1999 freshman season of football for Larry Reisbig at national power Long Beach City College … Ran 2 seasons of track & field for the Vikings … Was a member of the state junior college champion in the 4x400-meter relay … Named team performer of the year as a sophomore. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Brethren Christian High in Huntington Beach, Calif., where he played 2 seasons of football … Was a 2-time All-Olympic League pick … In track & field was a 2-time Olympic League MVP after winning both the 200- and 400-meter titles as a junior and senior … Holds the school record in the 200 (21.9).
