THIS YEAR: Senior All-American candidate Mike Betancourth is one of the top kickers in the NAIA and will do double-duty as the punter as well … Has a strong leg and is quite accurate as a place-kicker … Could push for the school-record longest field goal of 54 yards.

2004: Put together one of the finest seasons ever by a Cougar kicker … Led the NAIA with a school-record 19 field goals made, including another school-record 10 straight to close the season … Was 5-for-8 beyond from 40 yards out … Against Valley City State, tied the school record with 4 field goals made, including a career-best 52-yarder, second longest in program history … As a punter, averaged 36.7 yards a boot with 17 of his 75 kicks stopping inside the foe's 20-yard line … Had a best punt of 53 yards … Led the team in scoring with 94 points, most ever by a Cougar place-kicker and had a single-game best of 18 points in the Cougars' 68-6 victory over Valley City State … Named All-American fourth team by naiafootball.net.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Kicked for 2 seasons at Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. … As a 2002 sophomore, scored 33 points in 10 games for the Panthers … Converted 27-of-28 PATs and was good on both of his field goal attempts, including a long of 42 yards … Averaged 33.7 yards on 39 punts.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 seasons of varsity football for head coach David Hoover at Valley View High in Moreno Valley, Calif. … Was a 2-time All-Ivy League honoree as a place kicker … Earned 4 varsity letters in soccer, twice being named all-league for his play.
