THIS YEAR: An explosive newcomer, Lathian Tyler returns to football after a 1-year layoff to recover from a knee injury … Teams with Shane Minton to give the Cougars an outstanding ground game.

MONTANA STATE: Played 3 seasons (1997-99) for NCAA Division I-AA member Montana State … Left the program following the 1999 season 13th on the Bobcats' all-time rushing chart with 1,557 career yards … As a 1999 junior led MSU in rushing with 431 yards and 7 TDs in 11 games despite battling a knee injury … Also had 11 catches for 111 yards with a TD … As a 1998 sophomore rushed for a team-high 711 yards on 151 carries … Tallied first-ever 100-yard game with 117 yards against Idaho State … Redshirted the 1996 season at Montana State.

HIGH SCHOOL: In his 2-year career at Diamond Bar (Calif.) High was named All-CIF, All-Inland Valley and All-San Gabriel Valley first team for his play on both offense and defense … As a 1995 senior, led DBHS to a 14-0 record and the CIF championship … Was named CIF Player of the Year after rushing for 1,855 yards (132.5 avg./g) while scoring 28 TDs As a 1994 junior, led the Brahmas to a 9-4 record and the CIF semifinals after rushing for over 800 yards, scoring 14 TDs and tallying 114 tackles … Played for head coach Terry Roche … Also lettered 2 seasons in varsity basketball.
