Biography

THIS YEAR: Senior Jim Daichendt, a formidable offensive tool, returns for his fourth year in the Cougar program . . . Gives the Cougars experience and quality depth on the special teams . . . Rated an accurate kicker and has increased his range . . . Has a good foot from 35 yards in.

1997: Appeared in all 9 games and was third on the team in scoring with 25 points . . . Attempted just 8 FGs, making 5, including a season-best 33-yarder in the finale at Chapman.

1996: Appeared in all 10 games as a 1996 sophomore . . . Was second on the team in scoring with 47 points . . . Made 6-of-10 field goal attempts, including a career-long 42-yarder at Menlo as time expired to give the Cougars a 3-0 halftime lead (Cougars eventually won 24-14) . . . Converted a 21-yard attempt with 1:12 left to lift the Cougars to a 22-21 victory at Chico State, the first game-winning FG of his high school/college career . . . Made 29-of-32 PATs, including his last 9 in a row of the season . . . Made 11 straight PATs at one point, a career best.

1995: Handled all PATs, converting 17-of-22 attempts . . . Made 7 in a row for best streak . . . Did not attempt a field goal.

AUGUSTANA: As a 1994 freshman was a reserve member for NCAA Division III power Augustana . . . Did not attempt any kicks . . . Transferred to Azusa Pacific after his family moved from the Chicago area to San Jose.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Barrington (Ill.) High where he lettered in soccer, baseball, and football . . . Kicked a career-long 42-yard FG . . . Was team MVP in soccer as 1994 senior.

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 22, 1975, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Gary and Cathy Daichendt . . . Last name pronounced day-SHENT . . . Graduated last year with a bachelor's degree in art . . . Currently working on his teaching credential . . . Married his college sweetheart Rachel Savona on Dec. 27, 1997
