THIS YEAR:  Graduate transfer James Hubbard gives Azusa Pacific experience and great depth at wide receiver … Returns to his Southern California roots after spending the past four years at Cornell University in the Ivy League.

CORNELL:  Appeared in 30 games in his career at Cornell, tallying 74 receptions for 945 (12.8 avg.) to go along with five TDs … As a 2017 junior, had 31 grabs for a team-high 363 yards (11.7) and a TD …  Best game came in a win over Bucknell when had 8 catches for 53 yards .. Had 3 grabs for 82 yards and a TD (57 yards) in a win over Yale … As a 2016 sophomore registered 25 catches for 328 yards (13.1 avg.) and a TD … Recorded five receptions for a career-high 105 yards, including a 63-yard TD, in a 39-38 win at Colgate … As a 2015 freshman tallied 18 receptions for 254 yards (14.1 avg.) and three TDs … Posted a 60-yard TD catch in a win over Bucknell … Appeared in one game (vs. Yale) on special teams in 2014 … Graduated from Cornell with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in business … Won the Chester Freeman Award for leadership and commitment to excellence.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played three seasons of varsity football for head coach Guz Martinez at Fullerton (Calif.) Union High … For his career tallied 95 receptions for 1,563 yards and 16 TDs … As a 2013 senior appeared in all 13 games, finishing with team-highs of 62 catches for 1,092 yards and 14 TDs for the 10-3 Indians who advanced to the third round of the CIF playoffs … Named All-CIF and All-Freeway League first team, and All-Orange County second team … Named National Football Foundation scholar-athlete … As a 2012 junior had 28 receptions for 441 yards and two touchdowns … Played in 9 games as a 2011 sophomore, finishing with seven receptions for 30 yards … Played for head coach Gus Martinez … Also ran three seasons of track and was the Freeway League 100-meter champ as a senior.

PERSONAL:  Born March 12, 1996, in Anaheim, Calif., to Michael and Kristen Hubbard … Has one brother (Christian) and a sister (Steena) … His dad and uncle played lacrosse at the University of Maryland … Another uncle, Rodney Hubbard, played football at Maryland … Working on his master’s degree in leadership in sports management at Azusa Pacific … Enjoys spending time flying his drone.
