THIS YEAR: He arrived at Azusa Pacific in 1997 as a 150-pound quarterback. Three years later and 45 pounds heavier, redshirt junior Houn Hib is a physical cog in Azusa Pacific's deep and talented receiving corps … A possession-type receiver, with tremendous experience, having played in 34 of the Cougars' 36 games the past 3 seasons … Known for his clutch third-down receptions. 2000: Appeared in 8 games, starting 6 as a 2000 junior … Missed 2 games in midseason because of severely sprained ankle … Was fourth on the team with 23 catches for 277 yards … Went 80 receptions in his career before he tallied his first collegiate TD catch, a 21-yard strike from Luke Winslow vs. Chapman in the regular season finale … Had 5 catches for 91 yards vs. Chapman … Also had a 36-yard season-best catch vs. the Panthers … Had 4 receptions vs. Western Oregon and Cal Lutheran. 1999: Appeared in 12 games, starting in 7 (primarily in the Cougars' 3 wide-out set) … Was third on the team in receptions with a career-high 47 that covered 741 yards (15.8) ... Surprisingly did not have a TD catch … Had back-to-back games in which he caught a career-high 7 passes (for 121 yards vs. Southern Oregon and 102 yards vs. La Verne) … Registered a trio of 100-reception-yard games, including one vs. No. 2-ranked Olivet Nazarene in which he speared a career-best 71-yard bomb over the middle that set up the game-winning clinching TD 1998: Started the season as Azusa Pacific's No. 2 QB, appearing in 7 games as a signal caller ... Moved to wide out for the final 8 games, backing up All-American Dexter Davis ... As a QB, completed 2-of-7 passes for 13 yards ... As a receiver, caught 13 passes for 123 yards, and none was bigger than a spectacular over-the-shoulder 22-yard grab in the national championship game to keep alive Azusa Pacific's first-scoring drive ... Had a career-high 3 receptions in 3 different games, including a pair in the playoffs (vs. Central Washington and Huron) ... Rushed 6 times for 52 yards (8.7 avg.), tallying a career-high 34 yards vs. Occidental ... Also played some special teams, coming up with 4 tackles, all in the playoffs, including 3 in the title game. 1997: Attended Azusa Pacific but did not take a live snap. HIGH SCHOOL: Played 2 years of varsity football at Amos Alonzo Stagg High in Stockton, Calif., lettering at quarterback and defensive back ... Served as team captain both years ... As a 1996 senior was named team's most inspirational after leading the Delta Kings to a 7-3 record ... Also lettered in track & field and was a 2-time team MVP in the field events. PERSONAL: Born Feb. 5, 1978, in Cambodia ... In 1983, his family fled the country and the Khmer Rouge, escaping to a refugee camp in Thailand ... Eventually found their way to the Philippines ... An American church sponsored the family's move to Texas ... After 4 months, moved to Stockton to be closer to relatives … Married Shawn in 1999 after proposing to her in the middle of the field immediately following the Cougars' first-round playoff victory over Taylor in 1998.
