Biography

THIS YEAR: A popular player among his teammates, senior Ed Self moves into his fourth season in the program as a veteran who can provide valued depth. 

2002: Came off the bench in 3 games, tallying 4 tackles, including one for a 2-yard loss against Chapman. 

2001: Appeared in 5 games, all in a reserve role, tallying 10 tackles (4 solo), including 1 for a loss … Did not get into the first 2 games and then came on strong as the season unfolded, playing significant reserve time on the defensive front. 

2000: Transferred to Azusa Pacific after attending classes at Northern Colorado University. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football at Columbine High School, from which he graduated in 1999 … As a senior linebacker led the Rebels to a 9-2 record … Led the team in tackles and sacks … Named "most aggressive" player by the coaches … Appeared in 6 games as a reserve during his junior campaign and was on the special teams as a sophomore … Also lettered 2 seasons in track & field (200 and 400 meters). 

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 14, 1980, in Midland, Texas, to Sam (oil purchasing manager) and Candis (real estate) Self … Has 2 sisters (Emily and Kathryn) … Majoring in business.
