THIS YEAR: Junior running back CJ Zackery gives Azusa Pacific DIII and SCIAC experience after spending 2 seasons at Cal Lutheran … A 5-foot-11, 195-pounds, is a burly, bruising back … Will have to work off the rust of a year layoff from the game.

CAL LUTHERAN: Played 2 seasons at Cal Lutheran … Appeared in 16 games with 6 starts … Rushed 124 times for 417 yards and 2 touchdowns … Also added 8 receptions for 41 yards and 2 tackles … As a 2024 sophomore, appeared in 10 games with 6 starts and rushed 85 times for 280 yards and 1 touchdown … Added 5 receptions for 18 yards … Rushed for a season-high 64 yards on 19 carries in a 31-17 victory at La Verne … Best showing came in a 24-20 setback to Chapman in which he rushed for 63 yards on 12 carries with his lone TD of the season, which gave the Kingsmen an early 7-0 lead … As a 2023 freshman, appeared in 6 games and rushed 39 times for 137 yards and 1 touchdown … Added 3 receptions for 23 yards and 2 tackles … Best game came in a 55-0 victory over La Verne in which he rushed for 54 yards on 12 carries and scored his first collegiate TD, a 1-yard run that put CLU up 41-0 in the third quarter.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended La Habra (Calif.) High School for 3 years before finishing his prep career at La Mirada (Calif.) High … Played varsity football for Head Coaches Frank Mazzotta (La Habra) and Mike Moschetti (La Mirada) … Competed at running back and served as team captain during his senior season at La Mirada in 2022 … Helped La Habra capture 3 consecutive Freeway League championships before transferring to La Mirada, where he competed in the Gateway League … Finished his varsity career with 1,142 rushing yards, 163 receiving yards, 1,305 all-purpose yards and 18 total touchdowns … As a senior, rushed for 787 yards and 11 touchdowns while adding 19 receptions for 97 yards and 1 touchdown, finishing with 884 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns … In back-to-back wins over Sunny Hills (27-13) and Dominguez (43-21), rushing for a combined 237 yards on 25 carries with 6 TDs, which included a career-high 120 yards and 3 TDs vs. Dominguez … As a junior at La Habra, rushed for 355 yards and 5 touchdowns while adding 5 receptions for 66 yards and 1 touchdown … Earned second-team All-League honors and recorded the program's longest touchdown in 10 years with an 88-yard run … Also earned honorable mention All-League recognition during his prep career.
