Biography

THIS YEAR: Brett Olson returns to football for the first time since the fall of 2022 after competing for the Azusa Pacific track and field program the past 3 seasons … Brings much-needed size to the offensive line and institutional knowledge to a program full of first-year Cougars. 

TRACK & FIELD: Competed for the Cougars under head coach John Hoyt, participating in the shot put, discus, hammer and weight throw ... Recorded collegiate-bests of 15.89 meters (52’ 1¾”)  in the shot put, 51.60 meters (169’ 3”) in the discus, 51.02 meters (167’ 5”) in the hammer and 14.82 meters (48’ 7½”) in the weight throw.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Bellevue Christian School in Clyde Hill, Washington, in 2023 ... Played football under head coaches Todd Greene and David Castillo from 2019-22 ... Competed at right tackle and nose guard, earning All-Nisqually League first team honors on offense during his 2022 senior campaign ... Competed in the shot put and discus under head coach Sonja Bennett during the 2022 and 2023 track & field seasons ... Served as a track & field team captain in both seasons ... During his 2023 senior season, won 13 straight shot put competitions, including the Washington state 1A title, West Central District III championship and the Nisqually League crown ... Also won the Nisqually league title in the discus before finishing fourth in the state 1A meet … Personally tallied 15 of BCHS’s 23 points to help the Vikings finish eighth over in the 2023 state 1A meet … As a 2022 junior, placed second in the shot put and fifth in the discus at the Washington 1A State Championship meet.

PERSONAL: Born Jun. 16, 2004, in Bellevue, Wash., to Mike and Jennifer Olson ... Has 2 sisters (Molly and Anna) ... Both his parents competed in track & field at Seattle Pacific ... Sister, Molly, lettered 4 years in track & field at Azusa Pacific and was the 2023 NCAA Division II national champion in the javelin ... Majoring in history ... Hopes to become a firefighter ... Enjoys playing guitar, bass, drums and piano, weightlifting, worship leading, geography, cooking, film and hiking.
