THIS YEAR:  One of six quarterbacks in the Cougar fold, freshman Brett Cabral brings a highly decorated prep career to the table … Expected to redshirt the season as he makes the adjustment to the college game.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played three years of varsity football for head coach Alex Pierce at Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. … As a 2017 senior, played in 11 games, completing 86 passes on 163 attempts for 1,045 yards and ten TDs … Was also a punter for the Grizzlies and averaged 38.7 yards on 32 punts … Led the Grizzlies  to a 5-6 overall record and the first round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs … Named All-Baseline League second team as a QB, All-CIF as a punter, Los Osos High Male Athlete of the Year, Inland Valley Classic game MVP, and was awarded the Foothill-Citrus Athletic Directors’ Association Scholar-Athlete Award … As a 2016 junior, completed 128 passes on 248 attempts for 1,409 yards and seven TDs … As a punter, appeared in six games, averaging 34.4 on 25 kicks.
