THIS YEAR: Redshirt sophomore Brandon Pentz is another in a long line of sophomore defensemen who could have quite an impact this year … Is coming off a 2002 campaign that ended quite well for him … Has valued experience that should allow him to provide quality depth in the secondary … Plays the "bandit" position, similar to a strong safety.

2002: Appeared 8 games, primarily on special teams during the first half of the season but saw considerable action as a reserve in the secondary later in the campaign … Registered at least 1 tackle in 7 different games, finishing with 13 take-downs (5 solo) … Had 1 tackle for loss (5 yarder vs. Whittier) … Recovered a fumble on a sack early in the second half of the victory at Cal Lutheran.

2001: Redshirted the 2001 season at Azusa Pacific. HIGH SCHOOL: Came out of state powerhouse Poly High in Riverside, Calif., where as a 2000 senior he earned all-conference honors and was named the team's defensive back MVP … Was a key member of a Bear team that went 9-4 … Also served as a kicker and wide receiver during his 2-year varsity career … Lettered 1 season in soccer (sweeper).
