THIS YEAR:  A persevering and popular teammate, fifth-year senior Blaine Aguiar is likely to handle the Cougars’ kickoff responsibilities and is projected to back-up fellow senior Jake Hall in both punting and place kicking duties … Has playing experience that could prove to be valuable as the season unfolds.

2017 (junior):  Handled the Cougars’ primary kickoff duties, averaging 59.1 yards over 38 kickoffs, five of which went as touchbacks and none that went out-of-bounds … Did not attempt any fields goals or punts.

2016 (sophomore):  Appeared in the final three games of the season, including the Cougars’ first-ever NCAA playoff game … Averaged 56.3 yards on seven kickoffs.

2015 (freshman): Averaged 37.5 yards on 13 punts ... Averaged a hefty 43.6 yards on five punts against West Texas A&M with a long of 58 ... Kicked off five times for 59.8 yards with one touchback

2014 (redshirt): Practiced with the team while attending classes at Azusa Pacific.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a three-sport athlete at Atascadero (Calif.) High ... Lettered in football twice for head coach Vic Cooper ... As a junior, helped the Greyhounds reach the CIF semifinals ... Made all nine extra points and had a season-best kickoff of 58 yards and punt of 42 yards ... As a senior, led the team to a Pac-7 League title, making 23-of-25 field goals … Played varsity soccer for two years under head coach Kelly McEwen ... Was an All-North County midfielder and captained the team as a senior ... Was a varsity golfer for two years for head coach Sam Derose and reached the individual CIF playoffs both years.

PERSONAL: Born on July 6, 1996, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., to Stephanie Aguiar... Has an older brother (Alex, played soccer at UC Davis) and a twin brother (Lucas) ... Majoring in applied exercise science ... Wants to become a physical therapist ... Played the clarinet and the trombone in the high school marching band and jazz band.
