Biography

2019: Appeared in 8 games in the backfield… Had a career high 5 carries for 18 yards versus Simon Fraser… Ross showcased his versatility in the Cougar’s offense, totaling 9 rushes for 42 yards and 8 receptions for 28 yards on the season.

2018 (freshman):  Practiced with the team

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played two seasons of varsity football at Downey (Calif.) High where he excelled on both sides of the ball … Led Vikings to a three year record of 21-5 and a San Gabriel Valley League title … Was an All-CIF pick first-team pick as a 2017 senior when he rushed for 2,303 yards in 14 games (164.5 avg.) and scored a school-record 34 touchdowns, including 31 on the ground … Closed the season with 13 consecutive 100-yard rushing games, which included four 200-yard outings … Best showing came in a 56-42 win over San Pedro High in which he tallied a career-high 236 yards on 23 carries (10.3 avg.) … The week prior, rushed for 231 yards on 21 carries (11.0 avg.) and scored a career-high four TDs in a 35-7 win over Burbank High … Also scored four TDs in wins over Dominguez High (62-14) and Lynwood High (62-6) … Had a season-high four receptions for 41 yards each time in victories over Gahr High (50-31) and Corona del Mar High (49-42) … In all, registered a whopping 3,318 yards (237.0/game) … Averaged 192.3 yards rushing in four CIF playoff games while guiding the Vikings to the CIF Southern Section championship game … As a 2016 junior, ruashed for 738 yards on 106 carries (7.0 avg.) to go along with 24 receptions for 293 yards (12.2 avg.) … In all, scored 11 TDs (7 rushing, 4 receiving) … Guided the Vikings to a 10-2 record and the second round of the CIF playoffs … Played for head coach Jack Williams, a former Cougar two-way standout who was the 1998 NAIA Player of the Year when he led Azusa Pacific to its first national championship as a running back and defensive back ... Also lettered as an underclassman for two years in track & field (sprints).

PERSONAL:  Parents are Derrell (electrician) and Lakisha (nurse) Ross … Has two brothers (Israel, Marley) and two sisters (Zayana, Leyla) … His uncle is former Stanford great and NFL offensive lineman Bob Whitfield (Falcons, Jaguars, Giants) … Majoring in kinesiology.
