THIS YEAR: Freshman defensive back Asa Martin begins his first season at Azusa Pacific after a strong prep career at Perris (Calif.) High School … A 5-foot-10, 150-pound defensive back, who is expected to add depth to the Cougar secondary, particularly at nickel.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 4 seasons of varsity football for Head Coach Paul Martin at Perris (Calif.) High … Competed at defensive back for the Panthers … Served as team captain as a 2026 senior … Finished his varsity career with 105 tackles, 40 solo stops, 6 tackles for loss, 24 pass deflections, 2 interceptions and 1 caused fumble … As a 2025 senior, earned first-team All-Defense honors while helping Perris reach the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 12 playoffs … Totaled 67 tackles, 29 solo stops, 6 tackles for loss and 8 pass deflections as a senior … As a 2024 junior, helped the Panthers go 7-4 and reach the first round of the CIF playoffs … Finished junior season with 36 tackles, 2 interceptions, 16 pass deflections and 1 caused fumble … Also competed in track as a sprinter as a 2024 sophomore, clocking personal bests of 12.17 in the 100-meters and 24.81 in the 200-meters.
