Biography

THIS YEAR: One of 6 returning starters to the Cougar defense, including 2 in the secondary, senior Allen Hamm returns to cornerback after enjoying a fine 1996 junior campaign . . . A hard-working player who fills his role quite nicely . . . Should be among the team leaders in interceptions . . . Good one-on-one player . . . Rarely gets beat deep . . . Playing only his fourth season ever of football (high school and college)

1996: Started all 10 games . . . Was sixth on the team with 53 tackles (26 solo) . . . Had 8 pass deflections . . . Collected his lone interception in the season-opener vs. La Verne when he picked off former Cougar Ryan Hawkins' pass at the Cougar 30-yard line with less than a minute to play to secure the 18-12 upset of the Leos . . . Also had a career-high 11 tackles and a pass deflection vs. La Verne . . . Had 3 pass deflections in the win at Whittier . . . Had 9 tackles in a victory over Redlands . . . Had 6 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery vs. San Diego.

1995: Got his first live play on the gridiron since 1992 and for only the second season ever in his career . . . Appeared in all 9 games, starting 6 . . . Had 34 tackles (21 solo), 2 interceptions, 1 recovered fumble and 1 pass deflection . . . Tallied a season-high 8 tackles at San Diego . . . Had 6 tackles, all solo, in the win over Menlo . . . Made a game-saving interception vs. Redlands at the Cougar 15-yard line with 4:33 left to play to preserve Azusa Pacific's first victory over Redlands since 1989.

1994: Redshirted the 1994 season at Azusa Pacific while completing units to become eligible.

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Was a member of the 1992 and 1993 football teams at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. . . . Worked out with the team but did not get on the field either season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played sparingly his 1991 senior season at Etiwanda High in Ontario, Calif., his first season ever playing the game . . . Lettered in track & field and triple jumped better than 38 feet.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 26, 1973, in Pomona, Calif. . . . Majoring in social work with a minor in religion . . . Wants to work in a group home . . . Currently works with junior high students at Pomona First Baptist Church.
