THIS YEAR: Grad safety Aldo Olweny begins his first season at Azusa Pacific after previous stops at Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Grossmont College …Brings experience from both the junior college and DI levels and is expected to press for starting duties from the outset of the season and could see some time at linebacker

ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF: Spent 2 seasons at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, appearing in 7 games with 1 start for the Golden Lions …Recorded 1 tackle.

GROSSMONT: Played 2 seasons at Grossmont College … Appeared in 16 games and totaled 83 tackles, including 52 solo stops, 31 assists, 5.5 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions and 10 pass breakups … As a sophomore in 2022, appeared in 9 games and totaled 49 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 interception and 10 pass breakups … As a freshman in 2021, appeared in 7 games and totaled 34 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and 1 interception returned 83 yards for a touchdown … Also had 1 reception for 1 yard.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Serra High School, where he played football for Head Coach Dru Smith … Competed at safety for the Conquistadors …Earned All-CIF San Diego section, claiming first team honors as a 2021 senior and second team recognition in 2020 … As a senior, ranked among San Diego Section Top 20 in interceptions …  Helped Serra go 9-2 and win a Division 4 title as a junior … Also competed in track and field as a high jumper and played volleyball as a middle.

PERSONAL: Born Mar. 24, 2002, in Nairobi, Kenya … Parents are Bosco Olweny and Lucia Otto … Has 6 brothers (Joshua, Joseph, Peter, Simon, James, Steven) and 2 sisters (Winnie,  Mary) … Majoring in Engineering … Plans to work for a mechanical engineering firm … Enjoys gaming and watching sports.
