Biography

THIS YEAR: After proving to be a pleasant surprise last year, senior Adrian Magallon heads into his senior season as a key leader of the Cougar defense … Terrific athlete who is quite smart about the game. 

2005: Came to Azusa Pacific somewhat as an unknown and took advantage of opportunities presented … Appeared in all 10 games, starting 8, including the final 7 in a row … Was seventh on the team in tackles with 53 (16 solo) … Best game came in the Cougars’ first win of the season, coming off the bench to tally a season-high 10 tackles vs. Willamette, including 1 for a loss … Also recovered a Bearcat fumble that eventually led to a TD … Tallied 7 tackles each against NAIA nationally-ranked Eastern Oregon and Carroll … Also returned a punt for 3 yards. 

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played 2 seasons at East Los Angeles College where he was a 2-time All-Western States Conference honoree, including first team recognition as a 2004 sophomore … Named Western States Defensive Player of the Week after recording 10 tackles (9 solo) to go along with 2 interceptions … Named ELAC’s male scholar-athlete of the year for both the 2003 and 2004 years. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity football for head coach Vince Lopez at Gabrielino High in San Gabriel, Calif. … Was a 2-time All-Mission Valley League first team pick as a linebacker and was a first-team honoree as a running back as well during his 2004 senior season … Also lettered 2 seasons in baseball (shortstop/ pitcher) and basketball (forward). 

PERSONAL: Son of Adrian (self-employed) and Sally (U.S. Postal Service) Magallon … Has 3 brothers (Louis, Andre, Leonard) and a sister (Jennifer).
