THIS YEAR: A fourth-year Cougar, Aaron Baumann is an outstanding blocker who is 1 of 3 starters returning to the offensive line (Leverenz and Woods are the others ... A former tight end, Baumann is versatile and can play anywhere along the frontline but should see most of his time at guard.

2001: Opened fall camp as the Cougars' No. 1 tight end but made the switch to guard where he started all 9 games.

2000: Played in all 10 games but did not catch a pass.

1999: Appeared in the final 9 games of the season, including all 3 postseason contests, primarily on kickoff special teams ... Did not catch a pass.

PACIFIC LUTHERAN: Redshirted the 1998 campaign at NCAA Division III power Pacific Lutheran.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a 2-time All-Wesco Conference pick at Shorecrest High in Seattle, Wash., where he played with current Cougar QB Luke Winslow ... As a 1997 senior, earned All-Wesco first-team honors at tight end and second-team recognition at defensive end ... Highlanders were 7-3 that season ... Also lettered 2 years in basketball (forward).
