Biography

THIS YEAR:  A quality pitcher, redshirt junior Tyler Herges, when healthy, could prove to be one the Cougars' top hurlers in the program ... Has battled a shoulder injury the past 2 years that sidelined what began as a promising college career early in 2023 ... Rated a smart and mature player.

2024:  Played in just 6 games as a 2024 redshirt-sophomore, making sporadic appearances on the mound before being shut down with the same shoulder injury that sidelined his 2023 campaign ... Was 0-1 in just 8 innings of work ... Made 3 appearances in February, 2 in March and just 1 in April.

2023: Started his college career in fine fashion, working his first 19.2 innings in the opening month of the season, allowing just 6 earned runs (3.20 ERA) with 19 strikeouts and 3 walks ... However, a unique muscle injury in his shoulder curtailed his progress. limiting him to just 9 more appearances and 24 innings of work, surrendering 22 earned runs in the process ... Finished the campaign with an 0-3 record and a 5.77 ERA

2022: Redshirted the 2022 season. 

HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3varsity seasons for Head Coach Brian Fischer at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale, Ariz. ... In his 2021 senior season, tossed 27.1 innings while recording a 1.79 ERA and a 6-1 overall record and tallying a career-high 27 strikeouts and just 4 walks ... Named all-region first team.

PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 9, 2002 in Torrance, Calif ... Son of Jane and Matt Herges ... His dad was a former Major Leaguer who had a 13-year professional career (Dodgers, Espos, Padres, Giants, Damondbacks, Marlins, Rockies, and Indians) after playing collegiate baseball at Illinois State ... Has a younger sister (Julia) and a younger brother (Bryce) ... Studying Business Management.
