THIS YEAR:  Sophomore Michael Padilla is competing against a number of other Cougars for quality innings of work ... Has some good college experience to his credit which could help in his push for appearances on the mound.

2024: Appeared in 8 games during his 2024 freshman season, showing significant signs of growth as the season unfolded ... Surrendered 13 earned runs in his first 5 appearances (6.1 innings of work) before closing the campaign with 4.2 innings of 3-hit pitching, not allowing an earned run in his final 3 games, all against PacWest foes (vs. Concordia, Point Loma, Fresno Pacific).

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3 saesons of varsity baseball for Head Coach Ty DeTrinidad at Santiago High in Corona, Calif. ... Helped lead the Sharks to a pair of CIF Southern Section playoffs, including the Division IV quarterfinals of his 2022 junior season, when the Sharks went 21-11 on the season ... As a 2023 senior, named All-Big VIII second team after propelling Santiago back into the CIF playoffs, this time the Division II quarterfinals where the Sharks fell to eventual CIF champion Crespi ... Picked up the win in Santiago's 6-5 win over Kaiser in the opening round of the CIF playoffs, firing 3 innings of 1-run relief, striking out 4 while allowing the Sharks to rally from a 4-1 deficit ... Played 5 seasons of travel ball with the SoCal Birds and Head Coach Mike Cosgrove.
