HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 years of varsity baseball for head coach Chris Amaya at Rancho Cucamonga High, the same school that produced Azusa Pacific great Scott Hodsdon ... Was a 2-time All-Baseline League first team pick and earned All-CIF second team honors as a 2009 senior ... Left Rancho Cucamonga as the career leader in 7 different offensive categories: batting average (.405), hits (96), runs (69), doubles (27), RBIs (77), hit by pitch (9), and slugging percentage (.726) ... Ranked second in school's career leaders in home runs (13) and on-base percentage (.494) ... Batted .435 (37-for-85) as a 2009 senior, scoring 29 runs and a school single-season record-tying 11 doubles to help lead Cougars to their second straight CIF playoff appearance ... Hit 5 home runs with 32 RBIs, both team-highs ... Played in 2009 Inland Valley High School All-Star Game, appearing on the North squad with eventual Azusa Pacific teammate and Bonita High grad Jason Plowman ... As a 2008 junior, helped lead Rancho Cucamonga to a CIF wild card playoff appearance, batting .402 (35-for-87) with team-highs in runs (27) and home runs (7) along with 10 doubles and 29 RBIs ... Earned all-league honorable mention as a 2007 sophomore after batting .375 (24-for-64) with 13 runs and 16 RBIs.
