THIS YEAR:  One of the Cougars' top returnees, Katelyn Sonnier provides some much-needed experience to help maintain the Cougar culture for a volleyball program that lost 9 players from last year's team ... Offers terrific depth ... Likely to come off the bench this season.

2023:  In her first year at Azusa Pacific, appeared in all 28 matches in a reserve role for the 17-11 Cougars ... Was fourth on the team in blocks (39) and fifth in kills (99) ... Had a season-high 12 kills to go along with 3 blocks in a 5-set win at home over Concordia ... Also had 10 kills in a 4-set loss at Point Loma ... Tallied a season-high 6 blocks in a 4-set victory at Westmont ... Opened the season with 22 kills in her first 15 sets with the Cougars over the course of 5 matches ... Earned PacWest All-Academice honors for her performance in the classroom.

SAN FRANCISCO STATE:  Spent her 2022 freshman season at NCAA DII member San Francisco State, where she appeared in 11 matches (31 sets), starting 3 ... Recorded 46 kills, 16 digs and 7 blocks in her limited time of play ... Registered a career-high 15 kills vs. Chaminade in just her third collegiate match ... Played in 9 of the Gators' first 14 matches and then saw the court just twice in their final 11 competitions.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3 seasons of volleyball at Hemet (Calif) High, where she was a 2-time all-league selection, including being named the Ivy League MVP during her 2021 senior campaign ... Her 2020 junior season was canceled because of COVID ... Led the Bulldogs to a 70-28 (.714) record, 2 league titles and 3 CIF playoff appearances during her career.

PERSONAL:  Birth date is Aug. 20 ... Parents are Jason and Dawn Sonnier ... Has 2 younger brothers (Colby, Tyler) ... Majoring in Kinesiology with an emphasis in health professions ... Was a member of the homecoming court at Hemet High ... Played club ball for Viper Volleyball out of Temecula, Calif.
