THIS YEAR:  A promising newcomer, true-freshman Jacob Freer will contend for a starting berth at third base ... Displayed a uniquely high skill set for such a young player in the Cougar program, both with the bat and his glove ... Was first penciled as a middle infielder but is making the switch to third base.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3 years of varsity baseball for Brad Files at Newport High in Bellevue, Wash ... Was a 3-time All-4A KingCo League selection, including second-team honors at shortstop as a 2024 senior when he batted .325 with team-leading numbers of 20 RBIs, 7 doubles, and 2 home runs for the 15-11 Knights ... As a 2023 junior, led the Knights in batting (.315) and doubles (5) in 18 games played while being named team Offensive MVP ... As a 2022 sophomore, appeared in 19 of the Knights' 21 games and was named Newport team Defensive Player of the Year after committing just 1 errors in 75 chances ... For his prep career, batted .285 over the course of 63 games with 29 RBIs, 12 doubles and 2 home runs ... Also made 14 appearances on the mound, working 17.1 innings with 18 strikeouts ... During his senior campaign, recorded 5 saves in 8 appearances and 8.1 innings of work, striking out 10 while allowing just 1 run ... Played 3 years of travel ball for Lakeside Recovery Baseball and Head Coach Rob Reese, who led Lakeside to a pair of Washington state legion championships during Freer's playing time.
