2023: Named A Second Team All-PacWest performer and earned Academic All-PacWest distinction… Had 13 starts on the mound for the Cougars this season… Earned four wins and had a team-leading 64 strikeouts over 63.1 innings pitched… Held opponents to a .263 batting average… Threw seven innings while striking out nine in a victory at Concordia.

2022: Named Academic All-PacWest... Appeared in 12 games with eight starts for the Cougars this season… Recorded an ERA of 3.34 with a WHIP of 1.21… Over 59.1 innings pitched, he struck out 47… Ranked top ten in the PacWest in ERA (5th) and an opposing batting average of 2.50 (10th)... In a victory over Academy of Art on 3/12, he threw six innings, striking out six and did not allow a run. 

2021 (Freshman): Appeared in 11 games, starting three...struck out 30 batters in 27 innings...allowed one unearned run while striking out eight in five innings against Holy Names (May 7).

2020 (COVID-shortened season): In his true freshman season, Mendez appeared and started five games (tied for the team-high) on the hill for the Cougars... In his collegiate debut against Chico State (February 1), tossed four shutout innings, allowed just one hit, and struck out one... In the final day of the season for the Cougars, Mendez tossed four shutout innings in the first game of the doubleheader against Hawaii Hilo (March 6), allowing just four hits.

High School: Graduated from Bonita High School in La Verne, Calif… Played three varsity basketball and baseball seasons for coaches Tim Godley and Ryan Marcos… Had a career ERA of 1.41, with 100 strikeouts in 164 innings pitched… In his senior season, was named the Palomares League Co-MVP and team MVP after an impressive 8-0 record, 1.22 ERA in 57.1 innings and striking out 54 batters… In his junior season, was named to the All-Palomares League First Team and the team’s MVP after recording a 0.68 ERA in 51.2 innings and striking out 26 batters… Captained the team his junior and senior seasons.
