Biography

THIS YEAR:  After redshirting his first year at Azusa Pacific, Gabe Jacobs is ready to compete for innings among a deep pool of Cougar pitchers ... Is likely to come out of the bullpen from the outset of the season.

2004:  Sat out first season with the Cougars, attending classes at APU while practicing with the team but not appearing in any games.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3 seasons of varsity baseball for Head Coach Bob Maloney at Ponderosa High in Parker, Colo. ... Put together a 3-year record of 14-3 on the mound for the Mustangs, fashioning a 3.66 ERA while posting 105 strikeouts in 107 innings of work ... His finest season was his 2022 junior campaign when he went 11-2 with a 3.21 ERA for the 23-7 Mustangs, who won their second straight state 4A championship ... Fired 5 innings of 2-hit baseball, striking out 3 in Ponderosa's 11-1 championship game victory over Cheyenne Mountain ... As a 2021 sophomore, was 3-0 with a 4.33 ERA for Ponderosa's state championship team that went 21-3 ... Was limited to just 3 mound appearances during his 2023 senior season ... Also played in the outfield, and at the plate batted .321 in 76 career games at Ponderosa, hammering 8 home runs to go along with 12 doubles and 45 RBIs ... As a 2022 junior, batted .354 with 3 home runs and 13 RBIs ... Played with current Cougar Bryce Robinette.

PERSONAL:  Born Oct. 4, 2004 ... Parents are Steve and Bobbii Jacobs ... Has a younger brother, Grady, who is a current standout baseball player at Ponderosa High ... Majoring in Business Management.
