Jerry Peña joined the Cougars coaching staff in the fall of the 2015-16 academic year as an assistant under former head coach Paul Svagdis. Peña has spent his time coaching the Cougar infielders, as well as being the third base coach during games. In the 2021-22 academic year, Peña was promoted to Recruiting Coordinator and is the main assistant coach under current head coach Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
Peña has been very active in the Southern California baseball scene. He played and graduated from Vanguard University after transferring from Cerritos College. Before his time at Azusa Pacific, Peña has coached at Mt. San Antonio College and has played a significant role with the San Gabriel Valley Arsenal travel team throughout the years.
