George Barnes returns to his alma mater as an asssistant coach.

Prior to rejoining the Cougars program he spent eight seasons as the coach at Mt. SAC. He served as the pitching coach at Charter Oak High School and Chaffey College prior to that. At one-time he spent the summers as the pitching coach for the Brewster Whitecaps and the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod Summer Collegiate League. He also spends time coaching for the Mark Creasse School of Baseball.

Barnes played for East Los Angeles College and competed in the State Baseball Championships. He went on to play at Azusa Pacific University where he received his Bachelors Degree. After graduating from Azusa Pacific, George spent two seasons playing for the Pensacola Pelicans of the Southeast Independent Professional Baseball League.

Barnes has a daughter named Avery. He resides in Hacienda Heights.
