During his high school and club career, Hernandez established a reputation as a high-ceiling athlete with elite defensive tools:

• High School Success: A standout at Hillcrest High School in Riverside, where he was a primary shortstop and right-handed pitcher. As a 2023 senior, he batted an impressive .371 with a .463 on-base percentage. He recorded 26 hits, 19 runs scored, and 16 RBIs over 24 games.

• Power at the Plate: Showcased extra-base ability with five doubles and a home run, finishing his senior prep campaign with a .949 OPS.

Notable Performances As a high school senior, Hernandez had a career game against La Sierra, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. He also delivered a clinical performance against Patriot High School, allowing no runs on the mound while contributing a multi-hit game at the plate to lead Hillcrest to a 6-0 victory.

Personal Born and raised in Riverside, California, Chris is majoring in Kinesiology. He chose Azusa Pacific for its strong community and the opportunity to compete at the NCAA level.
