THIS YEAR:  A junior southpaw who has logged 44 innings of work in 17 appearances the past 2 years, Cameron Kessel brings maturity and experience into the 2025 campaign that should allow him more opportunities on the hill ... Has been a spot starter and a situational reliever during his first 2 seasons at APU, and has displayed promising signs of being a key hurler for the Cougars.

2024:  Appeared in 9 games as a 2024 sophomore, crafting a 1-2 record with a 6.38 ERA in 24 innings of work ... Made 5 starts ... Best showing came in a start in a 9-2 Cougar victory over Biola in which he worked 4.1 innings of 4-hit baseball, allowing just 1 run ... Also notched 3-innings of relief work in a 7-6 Cougar win over Concordia in which he allowed just 2 hits while striking out a career-high 3, allowing APU to rally for the win ... Also struck out 3 in a 3-inning performance against Fresno Pacific ... Longest outing came in a 7-3 win at Westmont in which he worked 5.2 innings against the Warriors, against striking out 3 and firing a collegiate career-high 82 pitches.

2023: Made 8 appearances with 4 starts on the mound during his 2023 freshman season … Earned 2 wins and collected 11 strikeouts over 20 innings pitched… In a victory over Concordia, threw 3 innings without allowing a hit and struck out 2 ... Started the PacWest Tournament championship game against Point Loma, giving the Cougars 4 innings of work and allowing just 1 earned run in the Cougars' eventual 10-6 title-clinching victory.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 3  years of varsity baseball for Head Coach Vince Brown at Foothill High in Santa Ana, Calif. ... As a 2022 senior, fashioned a 4-3 record with a microscopic 0.77 ERA in 45.2 innings of work while helping lead the Knights to a 20-10 record and the Century League championship ... Pitched 3 innings of 1-hit relief, allowing the Knights to rally for a 5-4 victory over Santa Margarita in the second round of the CIF Southern Section playoffs ... As a 2021 junior, posted a 3-0 record on the mound with a 2.66 ERA in 12 appearances, helping lead Foothill to a 21-7 record and a CIF-SS playoff berth ... Appeared in 2 games during his 2020 COVID-shortened season.
