THIS YEAR: One of the Cougars' top newcomers, graduate student Anya Green joins teammate Delaney Tate as transfers from NCAA Division I UC Riverside ... Could push for all-conference recognition while bolstering the Cougar defense ... Rated a good athlete who is expected to bring quality leadership to the program.
UC RIVERSIDE: Played 3 seasons at Big West Conference member UC Riverside where in 95 matches and 345 sets she tallied 486 kills (1.41 avg/set) on a .252 hitting clip to go along with 193 blocks (0.6 avg/set) ... As a 2023 junior, her best outing came in a 3-set loss to Nevada in which she tallied a season-high 11 kills (along with Tate) ... Had back-to-back season-high 5 blocks in wins over Cal State Fullerton and Cal State Northridge to key a Highlander 3-match winning streak ... Enjoyed a fine 2022 sophomore season in which she started all 30 matches (85 sets), tallying 138 kills and was second on the team with 45 blocks in 87 sets ... Registered 5 matches with double-digit kills, including a career-high16 kills on just 27 attempts (.519) in a 5-set loss to Idaho State ... Had 14 kills on 23 attempts (.478) in a 4-set win at Cal State Northridge ... Lost the 2020 freshman season to COVID ... Was a 2-time Big West All-Academic selection.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played 3 seasons of varsity volleyball at St. Mary's High in Stockton, Calif., where she appeared in 100 matches recording 820 kills on a very fine .424 attack percentage while collecting 235 blocks ... Led the Rams to a combined 54-16 (.771) record and a couple of CIF appearances over her final 2 seasons ... Twice named Best of the Record by the Stockton Record ... Played for the Rage Volleyball Club.
PERSONAL: Birthday is Jan. 21 ... Working on a master's degree in psychology
