Biography

1999 (Junior): Junior Jerome Joseph, who transferred from NAIA power The Master’s to become the Cougars’ a go-to guy in the clutch, has led Azusa Pacific to several come-from-behind victories with his accurate 3-point shooting . . . Selected 1999 All-GSAC and is a candidate for NAIA All-American honors . . . Finished the regular season No. 5 in the NAIA in 3-point shooting and is second in the GSAC . . . Finished eighth in the conference in scoring and free throw percentage and sixth in field goal percentage . . . Has started every game but 2 . . . Against Utah, came off the bench to lead the Cougars with 12 points and 7 rebounds . . . In his return trip to The Master’s, scored 20 points, thanks to 4-for-4 shooting from the 3-point arc . . . Had a 3-game stretch where he scored 20-plus points in each game, the first Cougar to do so since 1994 . . . Scored 51 points in the Cougar Classic, 2 shy of the tournament record, including a season-best 28 against Western Baptist . . . Was selected to the all-tournament . . .  Scored 37 points in 2 games at the State Farm Holiday Classic, and was named all-tourney once again . . . In the comeback win at No. 10 Biola, Joseph moved from shooting to point guard for injured T.J. Walker, and scored 15 second half points to lead the Cougars to a 72-67 win . . .Finished with game-highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the year . . . Against No. 9 Westmont, scored 8 points in a 21-3 run that allowed the Cougars to come from behind and win 82-79 . . . Finished with 14 points . . . In a rematch vs. No. 10 Biola, ignited another Cougar run to overcome a 9-point deficit, hitting a pair of treys that gave the Cougars the lead in the final 5 minutes . . .  Finished with 19 points . . . Was named GSAC Player of the Week (Feb. 16, 1999) after scoring 56 points and grabbing 17 rebounds in 3 games . . .  Scored 17 second half points at Concordia, and made a key steal in the final 30 seconds and converted 2 free throws to seal the 82-78 win and Azusa Pacific’s unprecedented seventh straight GSAC championship.

NAIA: Appeared in 2 NAIA Tourneys while at The Master’s . . . Scored 22 points in an opening round loss to Oklahoma City in the 1998 tourney . . . Scored 17 points in first round loss to Birmingham-Southern (Ala.) in the 1997 NAIA Tournament.
 
THE MASTER’S:  Played 2 seasons at NAIA power The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, Calif. As a 1998 sophomore led the Mustangs in scoring (17.2 avg.)  . . . Was an NAIA All-Southwest Region first team pick . . . Led the Mustangs to their fifth straight NAIA National Tournament berth . . . As a 1997 freshman was the Mustangs’ third leading scorer (12.6) 

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played 4 years of varsity basketball at Chatsworth (Calif.) High School . . . . As a senior named North West Valley Conference Player of the Year after averaging 25.3 points and 6.4 assists . . . Was an all-city and all-state pick and a McDonalds All-American nominee . . . As a junior named North West Valley Conference Player of the Year after averaging 18.6 points  . . . Was an all-city and all-state selection . . . Named All-San Fernando Valley as a sophomore.
 
PERSONAL:  Born June 7, 1978, in Panorama City, Calif., to Alvin and Marilyn Joseph . . . Is 1 of 2 children  . . . Majoring in history with a minor in physical education . . . Wants to teach history and coach basketball .
