THIS YEAR:  Freshman Emily Ignas joins Azusa Pacific for the first team tennis experience of her career … Capable of hitting for power with all strokes … Figures to vie for time in singles and doubles. 
 
HIGH SCHOOL:  Competed exclusively in United States Tennis Association tournaments as she completed her high school academics through NorthStar Online Academy, an online high school program … Earned selection to play on the Southern California Zonals team, a program that allows players to compete in intersectional competition … Qualified for National Opens and Super Nationals in 3 of 4 years … Earned the Sportsmanship Award for the USTA Southern California section … In a local 2004 tournament, defeated eventual 2008 U.S. Open Junior champion CoCo Vandeweghe in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. 
 
PERSONAL:  Born April 18, 1990, in Atlanta, Ga., to Mike and Holly Ignas … Is an only child … Majoring in graphic design … Enjoys music, games, movies, and Broadway musicals.
