Biography

2022: Earned Academic All-PacWest distinction... Made 16 appearances primarily as a closer for the Cougars in his final season… Over 24.1 innings pitched, he struck out 36… Posted a 3-0 record with five saves (4th in PacWest)... In a victory over Cal State Monterey Bay (2/17), he threw two innings, only allowing two hits while striking out five.

2021 (Junior): Appeared in nine games, starting one...struck out 13 batters in 13.1 innings...threw 3.1 shutout innings with three strikeouts in win over Biola (March 20).

2020 (COVID-shortened season): Appeared four times, starting twice on the hill for the Cougars... Tossed 9.0 innings while striking out 12... Pitched three scoreless and hitless frames in a 5-0 win over Concordia (February 4) and struck out four... In an 11-8 win over Dixie State (February 15), tossed the final four innings of the game to record the save, he struck out a season-high five batters and allowed just one run in the outing.

2019 (Sophomore): Received All-West Region honorable mention (NCBWA) and was selected to the All-PacWest Second Team… Appeared in 16 games, starting 11 games on the year… posted a 3.22 ERA with an overall record of 7-2 and three saves… threw 67 total innings while allowing 24 earned runs… struckout 55 batters, walked 30, and opponents hit .241 against him… In his first 20.2 innings of the season allowed a total of only three runs and had 24 strikeouts… This included a seven inning start against Point Loma (March 9) in which he allowed just one run and had five strikeouts… Allowed less than three runs in all of his 11 starts… Threw two complete games on the year tied atop the team lead.

2018 (Freshman): As a redshirt freshman transfer from the University of Oregon, appeared out of the bullpen 11 times… had an overall record of 3-1 with a 5.68 ERA and recorded two saves… pitched a total of 19 innings, giving up 12 earned runs, struck out 26 batters and walked 15 while opponents batted .206 against him… In a 4-3 win over Western Oregon (February 9), Kearney picked up his first victory of the season pitching two scoreless innings while striking out four… In a 5-4 win over Concordia (February 24), picked up his second win on the season while pitching three innings and striking out a season high six, gave up one run on two hits in the outing.

Oregon (2017): Redshirted in his only season under coach George Horton.

High School: Graduated from St. Monica Catholic High School in Santa Monica, Calif... Played four varsity baseball seasons under two different coaches, Jack White and Michael Alcalla... Also was a four year varsity basketball player and played one year of varsity football in high school as well... Was a two way player in high school in baseball, posted a 1.95 ERA while going 2-2 with 63 strikeouts to just 10 walks in 75.1 innings pitched in his senior year… Also hit .350 with two home runs, eight RBI and four doubles that same year... Named first-team All-Camino Real League as a senior… Also selected first-team All-Camino Real League as a junior in 2015... Captained the team his junior and senior seasons.

Personal: Born April 22, 1998 in Redlands, Calif... Son of Dan and Pam... Has one sister Abbey... Majoring in Business Economics... Interested in becoming a General Manager for a professional sports franchise... Enjoys fishing, hiking, surfing, golf and basketball.
