Biography

2021 (senior): D2CCA All-American honorable mention... D2CCA All-West Region first team selection... ABCA & NCBWA All-West Region second team selections... All-PacWest first team selection...appeared in 32 games, starting 29...hit .293 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI...went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI against Biola (April 9)... was 4-1 with 31 strikeouts in 31 innings on the mound in six starts...struck out 11 batters over six innings against Concordia (March 27).

2020 (senior): Led the Cougars on the mound and at the plate during the shortened COVID-19 season... led the team in batting average (.357), home runs (5), RBI (17), doubles (8), OPS (1.199), innings pitched (24.2), wins (2), complete games (1), and was second on the team in ERA (1.46)... the one-man wrecking crew appeared in 19 games, starting 18 of them including five on the mound for the Cougars... awarded NCBWA Region Player of the Week once and PacWest Player of the Week twice... In a 4-0 win over Hawai’i Hilo (March 5), Estrella tossed a complete game shutout with a season-high nine punchouts and also hit for himself and smashed a two-run home run in the 8th inning to double the Cougars 2-0 advantage... Tossed 3.2 innings in a 12-1 win over Dixie State (February 14) and went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run... In all five starts on the hill, Estrella allowed just four earned runs in 24.2 innings including two shutout performances across 14 innings that led him to his two wins of the season (Chico State January 31, Hawai’i Hilo March 5).

2019 (junior): Named to the All-West Region First Team (ABCA), All-West Region Second Team (D2CCA & NCBWA), and All-PacWest First Team… he started and appeared in 15 games as a starting pitcher… led the team in wins (10), quality starts (10) and strikeouts (69)... had a 3.57 ERA with a 10-1 record… gave up 26 runs in 88.1 innings pitched, while walking 26… opponents batted .240 against him… Went on a terrific three-game stretch from April 12-April 26th throwing 21 straight scoreless innings while striking out 13… Threw 8 innings against Concordia (March 1) to tie his longest outing of the season, as he struck out 11 and allowed just one earned run.

2018 (sophomore): Was named third team All-PacWest as a utility pzitcher... As a sophomore, started 37 games and appeared in 39… started 28 games at second base and nine as a starting pitcher… pitched in 11 games total, had a 1-1 overall record and recorded a save... posted a 3.35 ERA, pitched 51 total innings, gave up 19 earned runs, struck out 61 batters and only walked 16, opponents batted .245 against him… at the plate he posted a .198 batting average, with four home runs, four doubles and 18 RBI, was third on the team in stolen bases with five steals on eight attempts… Had a terrific start to the season in the opening series against San Francisco State (February 1-3), in the opening 7-3 victory (February 1) he had five RBI, four of them courtesy of a grand slam in the 5th inning, in the second game of the series (February 2) he went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, in the final game of the series (February 3), he threw six innings picking up the victory while only giving up one earned run, he had a season high nine strikeouts in that game as well.

2017 (freshman): As a true freshman, appeared and started 49 games … Hit .248 on the season, tallied four homeruns, and produced 22 RBI… Finished second on the team with 127 defensive assist… Made three appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 3.00 ERA collecting three strikeouts in those appearances… In the second game of the season, went 3-for-4, hitting two homeruns and producing three RBI in 13-12 Loss to Cal State Monterey Bay (February 3) … In a 10-1 win against Cal State San Bernardino (February 10), led the Cougars by going 3-for-4, by hitting two homeruns and two RBI

HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior named the Arizona Daily Star Baseball Player of the Year ... Helped Ironwood Ridge to the state semifinals ... During his final prep season he hit .488 with 11 home runs and 53 RBI ... On the mound he posted eight wins in 11 decisions with a 2.83 ERA 

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 24, 1997 to Frank and Jeri Estrella ... Has one brother Frankie and two sisters Taylor and Britni ... Majoring in business management ... Enjoys music and reading.
