Biography
2022-23: Saw action in 11 meets for Azusa Pacific this season… Earned 62 points for the Cougars at the PCSC Championships, scoring 26 points in the 100 Back (57.97), 24 points in the 200 Back (2:05.83) and 12 points in the 200 IM finals (2:11.68)... These points contributed to the Cougars earning a second place team finish, which is the highest finish in program history.
2021-22: Swam in nine meets for the Cougars in her freshman season… Earned 36 points for Azusa Pacific at
the PCSC Championships, collecting 14 in the 100 Back final (59.99), 13 points in the 200 Back (2:10.16) and nine points in the 200 IM finals (2:12.50)... These points contributed to the Cougars earning a third place team finish, which tied for the highest finish in program history.
2020-21: Redshirt season, did not compete.
High School: Graduated from Beckman High School in Irvine, CA...Was on the Varsity swim team all four years under head coach TJ Prendergast...Was a captain for three seasons...In her freshman season was named the Beckman Women’s Varsity Most Valuable Swimmer, was a Beckman Varsity Scholar Athlete and placed third in the 100 backstroke in the Pacific Coast League Conference...In her sophomore and junior years, was again named the Beckman Women’s Varsity Most Valuable Swimmer, won the Beckman Varsity Scholar Athlete Award, placed 2nd in in the 100 backstroke in the Pacific Coast League Conference and was a Division 1 CIF Finalist in the 100 backstroke. Her senior year was cut short due to COVID-19, but was named a Beckman Scholar Athlete for the fourth season in a row.
Personal: Born October 15, 2002...Daughter of Myles and Sadie Yanagawa...Has one brother Kurt and one sister Noelle...Majoring in Psychology (Honors), with hopes of becoming a therapist while helping and serving others throughout her career...Enjoys being outside, hiking, swimming in the ocean and painting in the park.
