Biography
THIS YEAR: Senior Kerri Sparks, one of the top defenders in the GSAC, is hoping to be at full strength after undergoing knee surgery last winter . . . Has good size and speed . . . An offensive threat . . . Can come in from the backfield to score without hurting the defense . . . Very aggressive and spirited.
1997: Had her 1997 junior season cut short after 13 games when she suffered torn knee ligaments in a game against U.S. International. She still managed to grab All-GSAC and Second-Team All Far West Region honors, though.
1996: Earned NAIA All-American honorable mention after starting all 22 games . . . Was a chief reason why the Cougars registered 6 shutouts . . . Had 5 shots and 2 assists but did not score. 1995: Joined Restivo as the first freshmen in Azusa Pacific history to earn All-GSAC honors . . . Appeared and started in 18 games . . . Had 2 shots but did not score.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered 4 years in soccer at Cascade High in Everett, Wash. . . . Was an all-area second team pick as a 1994 senior . . . Named team co-captain as a senior . . . Was All-Wesco Conference first team as a junior . . . Won Cascade’s scholar-athlete award all 4 years . . . Also competed in track & field as a 1992 sophomore.
PERSONAL: Born Feb. 20 in Capetown, South Africa, to Linda and David Sparks . . . is Vice-President of the Council of Business Students at APU and is a Marketing major.
